LDG Announces Launch Of Its Dedicated Entertainment Services Business Line

The Lighting Design Group is excited to announce the launch of the LDG Entertainment Division to better serve its variety, game show/competition, reality television, music entertainment, streaming, and live event customers with a full-service production and lighting offering. This group, led by industry veteran, Mike Grabowski, will work closely with LDG management and production services to provide equipment, system infrastructure, and project management services, in conjunction with world-class lighting design.

Grabowski will be bringing his nearly 20 years of experience to the group. His tenure at LDG dates back to his early years with clients that included MTV and VH1 as well as news leaders NBC and CNN. More recently, Grabowski has worked with Warner Brothers Discovery Sports, Discovery Communications, Paramount, and numerous reality television and competition productions and music specials. As the Director of LDG Entertainment, Grabowski will be responsible for managing the design, production, and support staff for the division, as well as serving as the group’s head designer.

On September 10, 2024 — between 9:00pm and 10:45pm EST — an audience of over 67 million watched the first — and possibly only — US Presidential Debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. The debate, held at the National Constitution Center (NCC) in Philadelphia, PA, was lit by Dennis Size, executive vice president of design at The Lighting Design Groupand  moderated by David Muir and Linsey Davis, anchors of ABC NEWS. It was simulcast LIVE on 17 television Networks, and surpassed the previous June 27 Biden/Trump debate on CNN, which had a viewership of 51 million.

On February 4th, 2022, the eyes of the world turned to Beijing National Stadium for the Opening Ceremony of the XXIV Olympic Winter Games. Over the 16 days that followed, NBC Sports presented a record 2,800+ hours of Olympics programming. The LA Rams took down the Cincinnati Bengals in a nail-biting 23-20 game on February 15th, 2022, in what was NBC Sports’ most-watched show of the past 5 years. LDG lit numerous remote studios & locations for NBC Sports, including 3 studios in Sofi Stadium, 2 studios outside Sofi for Olympics coverage, 2 studios at the LA Convention Center, a studio at the Santa Monica Pier, a Tailgate stage, the broadcast booth and on-field content.

WRC, NBC’s Washington DC local news station & their Telemundo sister-station, WZDC, debuted their new Nebraska Avenue studios in March of 2022. Originally built in 1958, the Nebraska Avenue facility is full of history & tradition, was once home to the NBC News Washington Bureau, famed journalists such as Tim Russert & David Brinkley, and hosted the pivotal Kennedy-Nixon debates. This renovation brings the local stations to the forefront with state of the art technology & a flexible yet nuanced design evocative of the locale & rich history.

The Washington, D.C., studio for ABC News which debuted on Sunday, November 7, 2021. The space includes 360 degrees of LED video displays to provide flexibility for multiple programs across ABC News and ABC News Live.
