Robin Wallace
Assistant Lighting Designer
Joining LDG in 2019, Robin Wallace is an Assistant Lighting Director currently assigned to CNN. Originally from the Chicago area, she enjoys reading and various artistic endeavors in her time not spent at work or in the theater. BFA: The Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University.

My favorite project so far at LDG has been Sotheby’s May Marquee Exhibition. Together with Anna Jones, Josh Cutler, and a team of electricians, we lit two floors of artwork that would soon be up for auction. My floor featured an eclectic mix of paintings and sculptures including a massive Alexander Calder mobile. It was such a treat to engage with each artwork, to respond to their vastly different material qualities, and to have a hand in making them look their best.
As an artist and crafter, I’m always on the lookout for inspiration, and it’s readily found in projects like these and the people that make them possible. I can’t think of a single person at LDG who doesn’t have multiple creative interests, both lighting-related and in other disciplines – there’s always something new to discuss, troubleshoot, brainstorm, or celebrate, and room to grow as artists and technicians.
If I could encourage the non-lighting-obsessed to do one thing, it would be to keep an eye out for how different lighting conditions affect your specific body and mind. A simple change in color temperature can make a big difference in your mood!
